Day-in-the-life Summer Edition

As the summer is coming to an end I thought I would give a little inside scoop to how a day-in-the-life has been the last couple of weeks.

My body usually wakes up around 7 am, which has become my quit and peacetime. I like to start my day with a warm cup of tea w/lemon and ginger pieces, as well as honey. I take my cup of tea, as well as a glass of water with me outside, and here I enter a little meditative mind with some relaxing yoga stretches on the grass (grounding is a favorite word of mine). Depending on the day, my focus can be on my breath, a word, a phrase, or different quotes. I really try to shift my mindset from planning, which is still challenging at times..but that is why it is very helpful to have a set focus for that time period.

Then it is my favorite breakfast at the moment; oatmeal of grounded oats, w/banana, cinnamon, 1/2 coconut milk (or almond milk), and remaining 1/2 water, blueberries, sunflower seeds, walnuts, and pecans. MMmm

At this point, I like to say that my day begins. I might choose to use the following time to catch up on emails, read in my book, write, or, as I have been trying to get back to training, I might have a little workout. I’ll leave for the gym to either do some XT or weight training. Then it is back home again to have my lunch before I make my way to work.

I will have my own little post on my work, but for a couple of hours a day, I work with a man who has dementia. It has been both extremely giving, but also very challenging at times. However, I am grateful to have the opportunity to help, give back, learn and take it easy for those hours. I experience it to be very giving.

When I have completed my work hours, depending on my energy level, I can either end up wanting to just spend time alone and relax in some form of way, or go out and for instance, meeting a good friend or two.

After dinner, with my warm cup of tea and pieces of dates/dark chocolate/nuts/peanut-butter banana something, I have been enjoying reconnecting with friends in the U.S. (as the time difference makes it challenging to call earlier in the day). After a warm shower, I like to end the evening with either some good conversations with family, read a little in my book, write, and/or plan the next day/rest of my week.

My absolute favorite atm

Every day I do try at least have:

  • grounded
  • read the news
  • taken my vitamins/oils
  • remembered to enjoy the now
  • drink lots of water
  • learned something new
  • stretch/foam roll/self massage
  • exposed myself to the sun
  • remind myself to have a positive mindset
